Here is the follow up to the “Daily Life of Women in the Middle Ages”. A new approach to womankind is offered here: it is her life in society where we find her, away from her work, in her relations with her neighbourhood, with her husband, in her place in society and the role she played in the community, anywhere where her point of view prevailed. This society considered women with their multiple and even contradictory facets. We find Evean image associated with sin and carnality – side by side with Mary – placed above all the saints, the Mother. Once again, far from presenting the lives of women
among the elite, it is the search for the “simple” woman, the peasant woman, the bourgeoise, which prevails in this book. We have researched a lot of sources, mainly from the 14th and 15th Centuries, that “Autumn of the Middles Ages”.
